Obituary for Virginia Parker (Loso)

Virginia L Parker passed away on Friday October 1, 2021 with her family close and her heart full of love. Virginia was born on August 1, 1932 , the daughter of George N. Loso and Vilma C. Loso. She was born and raised in the small town of Proctor famous for it’s marble. She attended Proctor high school participating in student council and glee club as well as being a cheerleader. She graduated from PHS in 1950 along side her future husband Flicker Parker. They had known each other since 1st grade, and although they never dated in high school, they were destined to be together.
Following in her mother’s foot steps, Virginia attended Fanny Allen Nurses Training School in Colchester. While attending she became engaged to Flicker as he headed off to the Korean War. Upon his return from the war, Virginia and Flicker were married at St. Dominic’s Church on July 28th in Proctor, VT.
After graduating from nurse’s training school, she worked at Rutland Hospital in the labor and delivery department. She loved taking care of the babies and doting on the mothers, anxious to start her own family. After 8 years of marriage, she and Flicker were finally blessed with the birth of their son Robert Parker. Virginia would share the stories of the delivery room that day when Flicker was allowed to come in and champagne was poured in celebration!
They lived in Proctor until 1972 when they moved to Colchester, leaving behind family and so many friends. But Virginia and Flicker stayed close to those friends and built new life long friendships. Those friendships were the foundation of their daily routines, including parties, boating, beach visits, and sunning by the pool. The Friday lunch group and the Red Hat Ladies were times that Virginia treasured.
Through the years Virginia and Flicker traveled throughout the United States and Europe with friends and family enjoying many adventures.
In 2002 their grandson Jackson was born and Virginia finally became a grandmother. In 2006 she was blessed again with her granddaughter Mae. Being a grandmother was a magical experience for Virginia and she was very good at it. Patient, engaged, loving and joyful. She loved being with them and watching them grow. She attended their sporting events, listened to their stories, played in their make-believe lands and was so proud to attend Jackson High School graduation this June.
As her time grew near Virginia shared that she was happy with her life and all the things she experienced and the love she had in her life. She felt truly blessed. And anyone that knew Virginia felt that blessing in return.
Virginia was pre-deseased, by her parents. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years Flicker Parker, her son Robert Parker and his wife Rachael, Grandson Jackson Parker, Granddaughter Mae Parker, grand dog Monty and grand cat Pickle. She also leaves behind her brother George Loso and his wife Patty, sister in law Nancy Kaufhold and husband Werner. Nieces and nephews and special friends too numerous to name. She was connected to many people and loved them with all her heart.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gazebo and The Sterling House at Richmond for all their loving care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Colchester with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
