Obituary for Suzanne Whitney

Suzanne R. Whitney, 77, of Winooski passed away Sunday, April 17th, 2022 from a long-term illness.

She was born in Burlington, VT on May 24th, 1944, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Shirley Racine.

She was married to George A. Whitney on November 23, 1965, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Burlington, VT.

She was employed at Cigna Health Care for 25+ years.

She enjoyed spending her time sewing, quilting, and watching her Boston Red Sox. She also took great pride in spending time with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

“Saint Sue” as she was referred to by her family, had the kindest heart and always put her family’s needs before her own.

Suzanne is survived by her daughter Julie A. Whitney and her husband Chuck Rouille, her other daughter Laura J. George and her husband Raymond, and her son Michael G. Whitney and his wife Laura A. Lafayette. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Spencer J. Rouille and his partner Amanda Wells, Victoria R. Simons, Nicholas R. George and his wife Nya Key, Miranda S. Bray and her husband Jacob, Noah M. Rouille and his partner Marissa Morrison. Furthermore, she is survived by her great-grandchildren, Leah M. Rouille, Bryan, Curtis and Amara Simons, Ezekeyel F.T. George, Sophia J. Rouille, and Declan T. Bray.

She is also survived by her brother Ron Racine, sister Sally Grenon and sister Kathy Shortsleeve and her husband Raymond, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband George A. Whitney and her parents Cornelius and Shirley Racine and many aunts and uncles.

We also want to thank Bayada Hospice and the people who helped care for Suzanne and a very special thank you to Melissa Chenier for her care and compassion in taking care of our mom.

The immediate family would also like to say thank you to Julie, Chuck, Noah, and Marissa for taking wonderful care of Suzanne.
