Obituary for Raymond T. Racine

Raymond T. Racine, 88, of Winooski, went home to the Lord on September 25, 2021, in Burlington, Vermont surrounded by his loving wife and children.

Raymond was born in Colchester, Vermont to Raymond Racine, Sr., and Alycya Racine on September 9, 1933. He married Agnes Bissonnette on April 16, 1955, in Winooski, Vermont. He worked as an engineer for IBM for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, served in the Air Force and the Vermont Air National Guard and was an active member of the Air Force Association. He was involved in the Christian Action Ministry, We Stand with Israel and he and his wife served for 22 years at the International Christian Embassy in Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles.

Raymond was preceded in death by his father, Raymond, his mother, Alycya, his brother Richard, and his great granddaughter Emaline Lantagne.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 67 years, Agnes; his daughter Evangeline Lantagne and her husband, Douglas; his daughter Valerie Gratton and her husband, Brian; his son Thomas Racine and his wife, Laurie; his son Ronald Racine and his wife, Beth; his son Matthew Racine; his daughter Bernadette Gratton; his daughter Bonnie Vallance; as well as 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren which he lovingly referred to as his “Empire”. His family meant everything to him.

The family of Raymond wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Neurological Surgery Intensive Care Unit at the University of Vermont Medical Center who were so attentive and kind in their caregiving and family support, the Palliative Care Team for their graceful empathy with information sharing and caregiving, Doctor Chason Ziino for his surgical gifts, and Matthew Hogan for managing needs and supporting our family.

There will be no Visiting Hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Winooski, with Father Joseph Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Francis Cemetery. A reception will be held afterwards in the Montreal Room at The Best Western Plus Windjammer Inn, 1076 Williston Road, South Burlington.
