He was born in Winooski on June 9, 1931 to Emilien and Gertrude (Desautels) Brault. He was educated at St. Francis Xavier, Cathedral High School and St. Michael’s College, where he earned a B.A. and M.A. While there he was elected to Alpha Nu chapter of the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society. He did additional studies towards his PHD in Education at the University of Ottawa, Canada. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955 and in Japan from 1954 to 1955.

On June 6, 1959 he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Haugh, in St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Philadelphia, PA.

Ray began his career in Education as a high school French teacher and Guidance Director. In 1965, he joined IBM in the Education and Personnel Research Department. After his retirement from IBM, he and Mary Ann worked in the Edmundite Missions in and around Selma, Alabama. He and Mary Ann traveled several times by car across the United States and Canada. They also visited the Holy Land and traveled extensively in Europe.

As for his accomplishments, Ray wishes to be remembered for his love of God, his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a special devotion to his Catholic Faith and the Holy Eucharist, which he tried to receive daily. Ray served as a lector, cantor and Eucharistic minister. He was also a voice for the unborn wherever he went. He had a special love for the poor, special needs people, the elderly and shut-ins whom he often visited at nursing homes, hospitals and their homes.

Ray is survived by his wife of 63 years and their three daughters: Michele, Mary Ellen and Jeanne, and their husbands. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren. Also surviving him are his sister Irene Begin, sisters-in-law Barbara and Denise Brault, and brother-in-law John McNally.
