Winooski - On October 17, 2021, Maureen Patricia "Pat" (Callahan) Vachereau died at the age of 88 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT.
Pat was born on August 28, 1933 in Staten Island, NY to Chester and Louise (Darcy) Callahan. She graduated from Amherst High School in NY and Burlington Business College. Pat served proudly in the US Army, based in San Antonio TX and Fort Lee, VA.
On March 23, 1959, Pat married Douglas Norman Vachereau of Burlington, VT. They raised three sons- Douglas Jr. of Burlington VT, Matthew of Old Orchard Beach, ME, and Kenneth of Burlington, VT.
Pat enjoyed walking, hiking, bicycling, zumba, swimming, going to the gym, and going to the beach. She loved the snowbird lifestyle and called Bellair Bluffs, FL her second home. Pat was a proud member of American Legion Post 91 in Colchester VT, and VFW Post 10094 in Indian Rocks, FL.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Sr., and a son who died in infancy. She is also predeceased by her father Chester and mother Louise, as well as brothers Bob and Alan. She is survived by her three children Douglas Jr. and his wife Lisa, Matthew and his wife Maureen, Kenneth and his wife Sarah, as well as her sister and best friend Judy (Callahan) Nolan. Pat also leaves behind her nine grandchildren Jessica, Shanna, Rexanna, Ivy, Jonathan. Joseph, Benjamin, Bryan, and Quinn, as well as her three great-grandchildren Ella, Olivia and Joseph Jr.
Calling hours for Pat will be held on Saturday, October 30 at LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski from 11:00am-2:00pm. Masks will be required at the funeral home. Pat's final destination will be Serenity Gardens in Indian Rocks, FL. The Vachereau family would like to thank the staff at UVM Medical Center for the wonderful care that Pat received.
