Obituary for Leslie W. Chandler
Leslie W. Chandler, 79, of Colchester, passed away on December 11, 2021, in Colchester, Vermont after a long illness of Congestive Heart Failure and Amyloidosis.
Leslie was born in St. Albans, Vermont to Harland Chandler and Dorothy Howard Chandler on September 29, 1942. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. Les and Barb (Piche) were married at St. Francis Catholic Church in Winooski, on July 13, 1963. As a result, he was blessed with two beautiful children: Shari and Les II. Most of his career involved the installation of Commercial Glass in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. Les joined the Army at an early age, and then the Army National Guard with the 131st Engineers. Les wanted to serve the country that he loved and volunteered to re-join his unit when he knew they were being deployed to Viet Nam. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 6689, American Legion Post 91( having served in the color guard), and FOE 793 as a member and Past-Worthy President and Past State President of the same organization. He very much enjoyed Las Vegas with Barb and many close friends and relatives over the years. Camping with Bernie and Bev and their girls. Linda and Manny, snowmobiling, deer(beer) camp, playing cards, spending time at Paul and JoAnn’s camp (On Golden Pond. Playing golf with #1 brother, JOHN and friends was greatly enjoyed. Good time with buddies at the clubs. He looked forward to the weekend. Cookouts at the Carey’s - great times. Chandler family reunions every year with all his siblings and their families, and albums from each occasion, Les was a diehard fan of the DUKE and BOSTON RED SOX. Special times with family were very important.
Les is survived by his loving spouse, Barb, daughter Shari (Don McKenzie), son Les Chandler II (Anna Bruekner), grandson Don McKenzie, Jr. and great-granddaughter Lily (mom Jess Hood). Siblings: Harlene Paya, Lorraine(Hugh) Sinclair, Cathy Begins, and John (Ruth) Chandler. Also, Brotherin-law Bob LaMarche and Sister-in-law Beverly Piche There are many loved nieces and nephews and their families. Too numerous to mention. Besides his parents also predeceased by his sister Nancy LaMarche, brother-in-law Edward Paya, brother-in-law Raymond Begins, brother-in-law Bernard Piche and nephew Brian Sinclair.
