Obituary for Jacob Michael Roy

Jacob Michael Roy, 28, of Winooski, VT, died suddenly on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

Jacob grew up in Winooski VT where he graduated in 2012 from Winooski High School and Essex Technical Center. He later attended the VT Technical College Plumbing Apprenticeship Program and went on to earn his Journeyman license in Plumbing in 2019. He worked for VHV as a Plumber since 2014.

Jacob enjoyed playing and watching football. He played for the Winooski High School Spartans, the VT Ice Storm and cheered on his favorite NFL team the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jacob loved camp; his favorite place was Roy's Ivy Hill. He discovered his love for fishing from the camp dock and brought that love to the Maidstone Fishin' Mission. He loved sitting around campfires with family and friends. He enjoyed trips with his family, particularly the annual Tandyland summer vacation at Hampton Shores (aka, Hampton Beach, NH).

Our Jacob was the energy and light. He truly loved life - living it to the fullest, every minute. Jacob was always quick to poke fun or tell a joke, making light of every situation. His smile was infectious. He was awkward, goofy, often inappropriate and yet all we could do was smile and say, "That's my / your brother". His departure from this world has brought a deafening silence to our lives.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Sarah Roy and Michael Myers, his sisters, Maygan Blow (James Cornell) and Abigail Myers and Sam Myers. His grandparents Dawn Cameron and Larry Ormsby, Michael and Amy Roy, Jeremiah Tinker (Crystal) and little Jere, his Aunt Liz and Uncle Shea, cousins Nicholas and Nathan Lamphere (brothers from his other mother). Jacob also leaves behind a large extended family, including Lance and Courtney Bessette, Tucker and Brianna Brunelle, Karlie Bessette.

Jacob's list of friends is too large to list, but those he held closest to his heart were Karen Cabrera, John (Treh) Royce, Brianna Woodward and Nate Shattuck.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 12 at LaVigne Funeral Home in Winooski from 11a-1p, immediately followed by a gathering at the RVA in Winooski. Photos can be shared in Jacob's honor at WHOWANTSCAKE36@GMAIL.COM (a slideshow will be presented at the services Saturday).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jacob's memory to The Vermont Association of Brain Injury at https://biavt.org/ or The Barton Center for Diabetes Education at https://www.bartoncenter.org/
