Obituary for Irene Yvonne Dubois (Poirier)
Irene Dubois, age of 97, a longtime resident of Burlington passed away on April 1, 2022.
She was born in Winooski on October 15, 1924, the daughter of the late Elias and Yvonne (Poudrier) Poirier. She was educated in Winooski, worked at GE in Bridgeport, CT then married Leo Dubois in June 1944. They had six children. Irene enjoyed deer hunting with Leo and family, making crafts and traveling extensively throughout the U.S.A in a motorhome for leisure to World Fairs and Good Sam Club and N.C.H.A events. They were married for 50 years until Leo’s death in December 1994.
In August 1998 at the young age of 74 Irene married Francois Bourgeois. They enjoyed bowling, playing cards, eating at restaurants, attended Colchester Senior Citizens and were communicants of St. Mark’s Church. Francois passed in January 2020.
Irene is survived by her six children and their spouses, Lynn and Roger Burr, Rita Rotunda and the late Thomas Rotunda, Diane and Emerson Wright, Mary and Mike Santor, Debra and Mike Johnson and Daniel and Ginny Dubois; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, three sisters, Gertrude Plant, Lucille Quenneville and Jeannine Pepin; one brother, Normand and Coco Poirier, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by three sisters: Claire LaCroix, Bertha Wilber and Rita Marcotte.
Our family extends our deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Maple Ridge Memory Care and Bayada Hospice.
Visitation and services will be private. Interment to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington.
